Message Sniffer
What is Message Sniffer?
Message Sniffer is a command-line anti-spam scanner that uses advanced pattern recognition technology to accurately identify spam. The engine is multi-platform running on Windows, Linux and BSD systems. A unique, downloadable spam database is available via subscription and is updated multiple times daily by spam analysts and intelligent monitoring systems.
Message Sniffer captures more than 98.5% of spam without tuning. This is not marketspeak! This statistic is calculated by our monitoring system using data from spamtraps, user spam submissions and a comparative analysis with several dozen high quality spam tests.
How Does it Work?
Message Sniffer is about raw power and effectiveness. Unlike other systems, the engine requires no "learning period" and does not rely on DNS based spam blocking lists (DNSBLs) which can be slow to respond.
The Message Sniffer utility does not actually filter messages itself. Rather, it integrates with your email system and identifies pattern matches which indicate that messages are likely to contain unwanted content.
Unlike many anti-spam products that scan for content, Message Sniffer's tests search for combinations of spam features including message sources, common obfuscation techniques, email and url targets and fragments, and even coding styles.
What Can I Use it With?
Message Sniffer hooks into your email server and works with many popular products on the market today such as:
| IMail (ICS)/Declude | EWall |
| IMail (ICS)/mxGuard | MDaemon |
| SmarterMail/Declude | Postfix |
| SpamAssassin | ORF |
| VopMail | MailEnable via MXSCAN |
ARM Research has is developing products based on the Message Sniffer engine, such as Assert! for Exchange and IIS SMTP.
How Do I Get Started?
- Download a Message Sniffer software distribution (from the table on the products page) that is appropriate for your system. This will give you a chance to install the software files on your machine (without cutting into your trial time). SNF Distributions come with a demo rulebase. Please note the demo rulebase will NOT catch much spam, it is for setup/testing purposes only.
- Once you have the sofware setup, sign up for a 30-day FREE Trial. This will give you a production ready rulebase and updates FREE for 30 days.
- During or after your trial, purchase a subscription for Message Sniffer. Please note, purchasing a subscription before your trial is over will NOT cut into your free 30 days.
