Can I use Message Sniffer with Exchange?
Message Sniffer (SNF) doesn't work on the email client -- only on and SMTP (eMail) server.
We don't have a version of SNF that directly connects with MS Exchange 2007. However, there are three options from our VAR/OEM partners that integrate SNF with Exchange:
- eWall + SNF -- Acts as a gateway in front of any email server. SNF is now offered bundled with eWall for just about the same price as SNF alone.
- DakMail Security -- Extends IIS SMTP and now offers a an integrated implementation of the SNF engine as a plug-in.
- ORF -- Also extends IIS SMTP. We are in the process (nearly complete) of updating their agent definition for SNF as well as updated installation instructions for SNF with ORF.
A number of other options are also available if you are interested in setting up another PC as a gateway in front of your Exchange server. This option has the advantage of keeping the filtering load and possibly heavy connections from spam-bots off of your Exchange PC and can usually be created with modest hardware -- even an old box that might otherwise be thrown away.
